SECOND GOLD MEDAL for SchoolHouse Kitchen® Balsamic Vinaigrette Basico, plus praise from Food & Wine

SchoolHouse Kitchen® Balsamic Vinaigrette Basico was awarded a Gold Medal at the Napa Valley Mustard Festival World-Wide Mustard Competition for the second year in a row. The competition, in its 16th year, brings the worlds finest condiment makers together at the Mount Horeb Mustard Museum. Winners were honored at The Awards on Friday, March 13, 2009. The event took place at Black Stallion Winery in Napa, and was attended by SchoolHouse Kitchen design director Christopher Smith with his wife Debbie.

The vinaigrette was also praised in Food & Wine's March issue. The magazine undertook a massive taste test of the best jarred sauces available, and chose SchoolHouse Kitchen Balsamic Vinaigrette Basico as their only featured salad dressing. The article cited wine pairings for various sauces, recommending a Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc to match our peppery, tart, delicious vinaigrette.

In addition to garnering two Gold Medals for its vinaigrette, SchoolHouse Kitchen's two other products have also won awards: SchoolHouse Kitchen® SweetSmoothHot Mustard won First Place in America's Best Food Show in 2007, and SchoolHouse Kitchen® Bardshar Chutney was named a Silver Medal Finalist for the 2008 National Association for the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) sofiŠ Awards in the Outstanding Condiment category.

SchoolHouse Kitchen was founded by Patsy Smith in upstate New York in 2005, with her own widely adored home recipes. Through the sale of its SchoolHouse Kitchen SweetSmoothHot Mustard, SchoolHouse Kitchen Bardshar Chutney, and SchoolHouse Kitchen Balsamic Vinaigrette Basico, the company's mission is to support educational causes and programs.

Since 2007, Patsy's daughter Wendy W. Smith has expanded the company to bring these all-natural, gourmet products to national attention. 2009 will see further growth as the company continues to add to its existing award-winning products.

Wendy comments: "Winning the Gold Medal two years in a row really tells us that we're on the right track, and we're thrilled to receive this recognition. We have been working on some exciting new developments, so stay tuned in the coming months!"
